Engaging Opportunities

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone” (Colossians 4:5-6). Today these words seem to have an extra punch. I’ve been having opportunities to engage with outsiders, and I really need wisdom and grace. How about you?

  1. I have had a lot of opportunities to discuss my faith since moving to St. Louis. I came from Tennessee and my old workplace had a lot of Christians, but the environment was strict and religious discussions were frowned upon.

I have been working with a team of great individuals at my current workplace. The first time someone started talking about free will and the bible I was stunned… I just wasn’t used to being able to discuss things like that at the workplace. I soon became excited and had a chance to listen and share with an Agnostic, an Atheist and a few Christians.

I was used to talking to other like-minded Christians at Church about theological topics, but this was so different. I actually was able to learn alot more about why people believe what they believe, and the conversations inspired me to do a lot of research and bible reading. Its been a real blessing to my life to have that in my life. It really created a hunger for the bible that I had not experienced as a life long Christian.

Sharing the gospel is its own reward, but the way it motivates you to grow a deeper understanding is just awesome.
