The Courage to Pray

Some prayers take courage.

Take for example the prayer of David.

“O LORD my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, or they will tear me like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me. O LORD my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands- if I have done evil to him who is at peace with me or without cause have robbed my foe-then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust. Selah” (Psalm 7:1-5).

I’m not sure I have the courage to pray this prayer.

Do you?

  1. Amen to that! As well I struggle with the faith to pray this prayer from Proverbs 30:7-9:

7 Two things I ask of you, O LORD; do not refuse me before I die: 8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. 9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, `Who is the LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.
