As I finalize preparations to begin preaching a series of 10 sermons from the gospel of Mark, I have been blessed richly by Ben Witherton’s The Gospel of Mark: A Socio-Rhetorical Commentary. If you are planning to study Mark, I encourage you to pick up a copy of this book, published in 2001. The good professor also has a useful blog in which he comments on a variety of matters. For example, some months ago he reviewed all of Rob Bell’s Nooma videos.
Somehow I had forgotten how good Kenny Wayne Shepherd’s album, Ledbetter Heights really is. Yesterday as I drove to Memphis I heard Deja Voodoo. I have been listening to it and all things Kenny Wayne since I arrived home. Good stuff!
Finally, my friend (and former Skyline youth minister) Philip Cummings and his wife Debbie had their baby this week. I have heard many a story about child birth, but this one may win the grand prize. You can read about it on his blog.
